Hope to learn a Lot!!

Hi to all. I have just transistioned from a cruiser to a sport tourer (2005 FJR1300 w/ABS), and would like to tune my bike's suspension. I am starting to learn about suspension tuning, but need to learn a LOT more before opening my wallet for aftermarket parts. Hope you guys are willing to help!!

Welcome!

How adjustable is the suspension on your bike?  Do you have preload, compression damping, and rebound damping?

Welcome.

When I first saw your login I thought you would be cruising through looking for some novel ideas to register.

I'm learning a lot too.  Some of the stuff thrown around here is outside my knowledge but you can still absorb it and link to it later on, if you know what I mean.  There are some helpful and very patient gurus here.

Thanks for the warm welcome, GixG, RoadRunner, Hiqpen and Purdyboy! Hiqpen, the FJR front suspension adjusts for preload, compression and rebound damping. The rear has a soft and hard preload adjustment only. From what I have read, most owners believe the rear shock is very undersprung. I have less than 1000 miles on my bike (received it just before winter), so I plan to ride/adjust the bike this spring and summer and come to my own conclusions about the need for aftermarket suspension parts before spending the big bucks. Hopefully, I will have learned a lot from this forum by that time!
