Hello from the Pacific Northwet

Hello all,

New guy here, from Ferndale, WA...about 100 mi. N of Seattle, 50mi. S of Vancouver, BC.

29 years street riding exp. I personally prefer older bikes; current stable consists of:

  • '84 Kaw ZX900A1 Ninja
  • '79 Kaw KZ1000ST
  • '00 Suzi TL1000S
  • '80 Suzi GS1100E (project)

I really enjoy working on my own bikes, have a well-equipped shop, and love to learn new skills.

The TLS needs a TON of suspension work, so I'm looking forward to pick up some pointers and know-how.

I'll try hard to keep the stupid questions to a minimum.

I hear you about the TLS. I make a machined bracket to adapt a YZF-R6 rear shock to that bike. With the right spring on the separate spring unit and the correct valving in the R6 shock it's a really nice setup. That crummy rear setup often times make people forget how bad the front is too. Lots to do up there, at least it is straightforward.

Welcome aboard!

Jamie, interesting you mention the R6 swap...I have a Penske from an '03 R6, awaiting transplant into the TLS.
I might hit you up to discuss valving changes required, as the TLS is gonna need roughly TWICE the spring rate as the R6.
I'm also looking at front fork mods; GP Suspension is local to me, and I know that they have made some TLS/TLR fork goodies in the past.
