hi every one . been lookin for some answers on the net but no go , so i
come across this site to see what ,s what. iv done some racing over the years and decided its about time to head back to the track . im ussaly a suzuki guy
but i thought id give a yamaha a go just out of curiousity . lookin for some shim stack set ups with k-tech valves and thought i might find some answers here .
- Provide rider weight and skill level - Give us what you have as a baseline valving setup - Explain what the bike is doing or not doing
A shim stack setup is completely worthless by itself. I always drill into my customers that you should never go by "what you read on the net" because that will almost always lead you in the wrong direction. Rather, you should make adjustments only to correct a problem you are having with the handling of the motorcycle. If you can't identify a problem - work on your riding technique. As you go faster issues will certainly pop up and you will need to address them one by one.
jamie i presume . thank you for you reply . iv used simular settings in my suzuki,s with my weight of 100kg,s . but im in different teritory with the . yamaha. im a experianced racer , but havent raced for a few years now , im in my golden years you might say but can still cut a good lap .i dont ride the front i sort of steer the bike by the back wheel , old dirt bike habit . im a heavy braker an tend to throw the bike on its side an run a little brake some times if needed up to the apex an the rest is history lol i havent ridden the bike yet so i was tryin to get as you say a base line to start with and build from there . im still useing the 20 mm cartridge . any help you have would be appreciated thank you .
