Hey

Just posting to introduce myself.  Have a '03 F4i.  Swapped out fork springs with Racetech ones for the appropriate weight using their online spring rate calculator.  Got a little schooling the old fashion way (trial and error) on the spacers and preload.  Bike felt much more stable on the track and turned much quicker with less force.

Ran into a little problem with my front tire feathering toward the end on the second day at the track this past weekend.  The track was a pretty good surface not overly bumpy.  I'm interested in any thoughts or recommendation anyone may have on the stock valving, rebound and compression.  TIA

So, now that you have your spring i.p. @ around 15mm, and I am sure PVD whom used to own an F4i will concur, the valving in the fork is a tad weak (to understate), and this has no doubt caused the abnormal wear on the tyre...

Stock valves and pistons are fine to play with - in fact the only ones that I ever change are the really tiny KYB pistons - so, get some 5 weight oil and start playing shims!!! Why not start by mirroring the stock numbers in a different thickness shim??

Anyways, you do some experimenting first and I am sure we will be happy to point you in the right direction later, IF you get stuck!!! But I ain't handing it out on a plate quite yet...!!! LOL
