Hey.

Hi.
I lurked, for the most part, over on Max's forum- Guess you guys came over here so as to be able to speak freely about Max's stuff.

Let's see. I'm studying Mechanical Engineering here in Colorado. For the street, an Aprilia Mille with the standard changes- clip ons, rear sets, lighter wheels and brake rotors, Traxxion valves and springs, revalved and resprung rear shock, plus silly stuff like a full exhaust, Rene airbox, chip, yadda, yadda, yadda. (I high sided it at the track, and felt guilty, so I put it back together ok...) For the track, a '94 F2 (but a bit more practical)- Traxxion forks, Fox TC rear, and other standard track bits. We just got the wife a salvage titled '03 R6. So we've got a little bit of stuff in the garage to play with...

Anyways.

Hi and welcome

Yes the move was to be completely independant from any company. I love the sound of that Mille - has always been a dream bike for me - love the way they handle.

Welcome Irdave - yeah was for the sake of free speech it was never gonna work being piggy-backed onto a corporate beast, essentially unable to say somethings (if needed).

I like Mille's as well, stop mis-treatin it will ya?? LOL

R6, huh? Gonna have to revalve those forks, no doubt!!

Have fun and remember, rubber down bubble up!!

The 03 R6 is an excellent beast: they seem to be small and friendly enough to feel good even with dodgy suspension: my cousin resorted to racing with the standard shock at national level when we discovered prior crash damage had left his Ohlins with no damping... and yes, it takes a big crash to break a shock

I'm envious of the rest of your garage too

Be the well-come...

I haven't opened up the cartridges on the R6 yet. Did an oil change/spring swap for a friend with an '04 the other day- Oil was this nasty thick crap. Hard to believe the fork could even move.

And, yeah. The Mille is AWESOME on the track. Soo much feel out of the front end it's ridiculous- and that was with the stock valves. And the sound. It was good before, then the Arrow full 2 into 2 was better. And I recently did the airbox- the air going into the motor actually drowns out the exhaust note... Pretty crazy. It's too bad it's so expensive to crash... Just waiting to win the lottery so I can make it a track whore.

On a side note. You guys have any idea how to get more feel out of the front of an F2? I've already got the clip ons (not stock) under the top triple clamp, and I'm fooling around with front ride height for a little more trail, and hopefully a little more midcorner feel. And I've been toying with ideas on building adjustable triple clamps- again for more trail. Craziest idea yet was to make triple clamps for the F2 that hold the upside down Showas that come on the Mille (I've got an extra set of forks or two...). Hopefully with a Mille front wheel and brakes, I'd get better feel AND better brakes.

F2 are the same internals as my VFR no?

If so, I'm sure what we have done to my forks would work a treat. Actually, come the think of it, why not use the cartridges from your spare forks?

Are the spare forks from the Mille? It should be a fairly simple procedure
